Our Approach
The Furlong Fellas was created for people who genuinely enjoy racing and want a more transparent way to follow selections, analysis and race-day discussion.
We believe racing results should be open to review. That means looking at overall performance, not simply highlighting the good days.
Our selections are supported by racing research, form, trends, statistics and the factors we believe can influence each race.
We are racing followers ourselves, so the aim is to create something people can enjoy throughout the racing day, not just a stream of selections.
Stay connected with The Furlong Fellas team, follow the latest racing conversation and enjoy the sport alongside other racing fans.
How We Analyse A Race
Every selection goes through the same detailed process. These are the key areas we study before a bet is ever advised.
We look beyond finishing positions and assess the strength of the race, margins, previous opponents and how the form has worked out afterwards.
We look at previous performances on similar conditions and whether the horse’s running style and profile suggest the ground will suit.
We consider historical draw trends for that course and distance, alongside where the pace is likely to come from.
We assess likely front-runners, prominent racers and hold-up horses to understand how the race may unfold.
We compare previous meetings between horses and look for important weight swings that may change the outcome.
We look at current handicap marks, previous winning marks and whether a horse has dropped to a potentially workable rating.
We consider recent form, course records, jockey bookings, claims and any notable trainer/jockey combinations.
We are not simply looking for the most likely winner. We are looking for horses where we believe the available odds are bigger than their realistic chance of winning.
Tracked Performance
We believe results should speak for themselves.
Our goal is to make performance easy to follow, with historical results and tracked data giving visitors a clearer picture of how our selections have performed over time.
